Osinski Research Group: Outreach and Internships

Prof. Osinski is an active proponent of immersing high school and undergraduate students in STEM projects to pique their interest in the STEM fields. There is a long history within his research group of mentoring high school and undergraduate students. The Osinski group has worked with students coming in from the AFRL Career Stream, REAP, Qu-Reach, South Valley Academy Internship program, as well as working directly with high school coordinators, which allows even freshman students to participate in national scientific activity. The Osinski research group is especially interested in advancing minority representation in STEM programs, and gives special consideration to Women in STEM.

The Osinski research group's graduate students are also interested, and participate, in outreach programs. Many graduate students are part of the SPIE student body, and along with others volunteer their time and resources for expanding scientific knowledge and interests to elementary and middle school kids in New Mexico through different programs.

Over the course of these programs, many of the students have gone on to get STEM based degrees, and are currently working in prestigious institutions, such as Princeton University, Sandia National Laboraties and Los Alamos Laboratory. If you or someone you know is interested in interning at the Osinski Research Labs, please email osinski@chtm.unm.edu
